Making Apprenticeships work.

We love Apprentices. Unbelievably, we’ve trained more than 130 Apprentices over the last 75 Years!

All our Apprentices have been recruited in the local Congleton area, with 95% from the town’s two High Schools. As a result, we don’t need to advertise that we’re looking – applicants generally come to us, having been advised by a family member or friend. We also take young people on work experience, and we’ve established an ongoing relationship with Congleton High School.

Why do we like Apprentices so much? There are several reasons why we expect to recruit two new Apprentices each year…

  • We can develop a strong work ethic in a 16-17-year-old school leaver, which can be harder to do with someone older
  • We can make sure they’re trained to achieve the necessary technical requirements and understand the high standards that we expect
  • An Apprenticeship is for 5 Years, which means they can experience the full variety of installation work and have the opportunity to acquire a full set of skills
  • By starting at the bottom of the ladder, they’ll develop and grow to become a fully accepted member of the team
  • Taking them on as Apprentices mean they can absorb our company culture right from day one

Dan Swindells, one of our current Apprentices, s due to complete his Apprenticeship in June 2023, and he’ll be joining our team of registered electricians. Congratulations Dan!
